Mindful drawing using the Zentangle Method: An introduction
Time & Location
11 Sept 2025, 18:30 – 20:00
Goldsmiths Community Centre, Castillon Rd, London SE6 1QD
About the event
Join us for a one-off, introduction session to experience the Zentangle Method of mindful drawing, a structured, easy to do method to bring creativity into your life which can reduce stress and improve focus one pen stroke at a time, whilst creating a unique art creation that is uniquely yours.
You will be led stroke by stroke by a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) so that you won't be lost, you don't need to come into the room with ideas or be asked to create something from scratch, and you will be working on a small scale so that we can complete your art work.
Suitable for people who think they can't draw, as well as those more creative amongst us, you won't need to bring anything except yourself, as all the tools will be provided.
Zentangle Method® is a research-supported method that actively engages the brain, fostering a state of relaxed focus. Studies have shown that repetitive, structured patterns can:
Reduce stress & anxiety – Activating the parasympathetic nervous system (your body's natural calming response)
Boost creativity – Encouraging a flow state, similar to meditation
Enhance cognitive focus - and emotional well-being

"Zentangle method drawing is recommended by the PTSD UK charity, the only charity involved with people with post traumatic stress disorder.
For many people, especially those affected by PTSD or C-PTSD, traditional meditation can pose challenges due to the difficulty of quieting a busy mind or confronting intrusive thoughts. That’s where Zentangle meditation steps in as a perfect solution. Zentangle is a form of art meditation which is used to relax the mind ..... by drawing repetitive patterns, and having no end goal in mind while you draw." taken from https://www.ptsduk.org/zentangle-meditation-for-ptsd/
Zentangle® was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, who founded the company Zentangle.com and certify Certified Zentangle Teachers.
